Missing keys? Sticky keys?
Keys not working?
Not to worry!

We see a lot of damaged laptop keyboards here however we get them all fixed,  and for less than people think!

Most repairs are done the same day or the next day.
In some cases we need to order parts that we don’t have in stock, but this normally only takes a couple of days. Better than most other repair places that take months!

Keyboard repair? How?

Depending on the problem with your keyboard, there’s a couple of different ways to proceed.

  • For missing keyboard keys:

We stock a lot of keyboard keys and can replace them providing there’s no damage to the metal clips on the actual board of the keyboard. This is the most common problem and is the cheapest way to repair a laptop keyboard.

Sometimes we don’t have the keys and need to order them. All this means is that the repair will take a little longer (like a car garage needing to order a part for your car). In this case, depending on the circumstances, you can collect your laptop while we wait for the parts. (A deposit will be required).

  • For sticky keyboard keys (liquid damaged keyboards):

This is the second most common problem with laptop keyboards.

Sometimes we can repair the keyboard, sometimes we can’t. It’s all a case of how bad the liquid damage is, how much liquid was spilt on it, what the liquid was (sugary liquids are the worst), and where it’s actually reached on the keyboard.

If we can’t repair the keyboard, we can replace it. We do stock quite a few types of common keyboards but obviously there are many, many different types. If we don’t have your keyboard in stock then we can order it for delivery. Again, you could leave a deposit and take your laptop (with a USB keyboard if needed) so you can return it when the replacement keyboard has been delivered to us.

  • For keys not working:

There are many different causes that stop keyboards working. Sometimes there has been liquid damage that you don’t know about… Maybe someone spilt their coffee on it and is trying to hide it! (Actually very common…)

Most of the time a replacement keyboard is required. It’s basically the same situation as “sticky keyboards”, described above.

What about cost?

Unfortunately with laptop keyboards we can’t quote a price or do fixed price repair.

This is because there are so many different laptop makes and models. Some are cheaper than others, some are very expensive, some are easy to find and some are almost impossible (Sony Vaio!).

The most common laptop we replace keys on is Acer, Advent and similar makes. The most average cost of these laptops is £6 per key.

The most common laptop we replace whole keyboards on is Acer, Advent and similar makes. The most average cost of these keyboards is around £45 all in.

You will need to get an exact quote off us, though! So get in touch.
